Marking Systems, Inc. is a family-owned and -operated printing company started in 1971 by Henry Van Beber. Henry got his start selling for 3M’s Commercial Graphics division back in the mid to late '60s. Marking Systems was originally named Vanco and started out of our family home in Richardson, Texas, in 1969.
Back then, our primary products were semi-trailer graphics, in-town fleet graphics, and OEM nameplates and labels. Suffice it to say, we've grown a bit since then.

Growth • Expansion • Success
Looking back over the years, we've seen rapid growth, steady success and more than a few moves to new facilities.
1971 Vanco was renamed Marking Systems Inc. and we moved to a 3,000 sq. ft. building in Carrollton, Texas.
1975 To accommodate more growth, MSI moved to an even bigger facility, a 5,000 sq. ft. building in Dallas.
1979 MSI built our own 15,000 sq. ft. building in the suburbs in Rowlett near Lake Ray Hubbard.
1979 Henry's sons Matt and Greg came to work after graduating SMU and Texas Tech respectively. Truly a family operation!
1992 MSI founder Henry Van Beber retired and turned the business over to his sons. By this time the decision was made to focus exclusively on producing Durable Product Labeling for Original Equipment Manufacturers.
2006 MSI moved to a 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Garland, Texas.
2011 Matt and Greg started a T-shirt printing company called TTY.
2016 Matt and Greg started a Die Cut Converting company, Marking Systems Die Cut or MSD. Die Cut Converting has been an excellent fit with our existing OEM base of customers.
2017 3M named MSI one of five 3M Preferred Converter printing companies in the U.S. MSI is the only 3M Preferred Converter for Durable Labels and Die Cut Converting in the same manufacturing facility. Marking Systems was chosen for this partnership because MSI has exclusively served OEM’s durable labeling requirements for over 30 years.
2020 TTY moved out into their own 35,000 sq. ft. facility also located in Garland. TTY manufactures all types of apparel for companies and brands like The Seaside Store and The New York Islanders, just to name a few.
2021 MSD topped $5M in sales.
2021 The MSI group of companies topped $45M in total sales.
2022 MSI/MSD will have added 10,000 sq. ft. of production space, two Preco fully automated die cutting lines, a roll-to-roll galvo laser system and a T-Tarp laminating line.
